Nigerian Senate President, Bukola Saraki

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has announced to the seanators of the Federal Republic the list of nominees to President Muhammadu Buhari's cabinet.


The nominees and the state they will represent on the cabinet, when confirmed by the senate, are:

Chris Ngige – Anambra
Kayode Fayemi- Ekiti
Rotimi Amaechi – Rivers
Babatunde Fashola -Lagos
Abdulrahman Danbazau- Kano
Aisha Alhassan – Taraba
Ogbonaya Onu- Abia
Kemi Adeosun -Ogun
Abubakar Malami (SAN) -Kebbi
Sen Hadi Sirika –Katsina
Barr. Adebayo Shittu -Oyo
Suleiman Adam -Jigawa
Solomon Dalong -Plateau
Ibe Kachikwu -Delta
Osagie Ehanire -Edo
Audu Ogbeh – Benue
Lai Mohammed -Kwara
Ahmed Isa Ibeto -Niger
Amina Mohammed – Kaduna


Additional nominees are expected to be sent to the senate, as each of the 36 states of the federation is expected to contibute a minister to the cabinet, according to Nigeria's 1999 constitution.


This list of nominees, which had been speculated in the media before the official announcement by the senate, is considered underwhelming for the "change" and "anti-corruption" mantras of President Buhari. Some of the nominees were functionaries of some past administrations, while a few of them have been tainted with corruption allegations.


However, President Buhari has continued to reaffirm is commitment to fighting corruption and bring improvement to federal administration.
