Access Bank becomes first SSA bank to endorse Principles of Responsible Banking

For the development of the Global Responsible Banking Principles, Access Bank has been appointed as the African Lead, United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEPFI).

Access Bank Plc., in collaboration with the United Nations, recently joined 27 other international banks to develop the Principles for Responsible Banking, alongside an ambitious target-setting and accountability framework.

Access Bank is the only bank in Sub-Saharan Africa on the Core Group for the development of the Principles. It is also a founding-member of the Principles for Responsible Banking.

Launched in November 2018 during the UNEPFI Global Roundtable in Paris, the Principles provide the framework for sustainable banking system of the future and will align the banking industry with society’s goals as in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Climate Agreement.

For the development of the Global Responsible Banking Principles, Access Bank has been appointed as the African Lead, United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEPFI).
