According to a statement released today, the company said its aim is to align with the 'Made in Nigeria' initiative of the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari by providing technology solutions and creating employment opportunities for the Nigerian youth.

“We model products that utilize cutting-edge technology, reflect a modern, sleek design and integrate the latest and arguably necessary financial technology such as mobile banking, all with the goal of facilitating connectivity among Nigerians and the rest of the world,” said Sahir Berry, Founder and CEO of AfriOne.

Governor Ambode will launch the new smartphone on Friday alongside Sahir Berry; Roheen Berry, Managing Director of Contec Global; Hemang Kapur, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at AfriOne; and Lekan Akinjide, the company’s Chief Compliance Officer (CCO). “AfriOne aims to democratize technology, by offering affordable innovations through our product offerings and removing barriers deterring the large scale adoption of advanced technologies in Nigeria – hence our motto AfriOne – One for Everyone’,” said Kapur. “We showcase a wide range of feature-rich and technologically-loaded product lines, from dual sim-mobile phones to educational tablet PCs and even android smart watches.”

AfriOne's flagship smartphone is the Gravity Z1, which runs on Android with a 5.0 MP front camera, among other features.
