Coronation Merchant Bank has been awarded the International Organization for Standardisation (ISO) certification for information security management, according to a statement released on Tuesday.

The investment bank said the ISO 27001:2013 certification signifies that the bank adheres to the highest internationally recognised standards and stringent controls for managing data and protecting customer information across all the bank’s systems, processes, and services.

“This certification is further attestation of our desire to run an institution that does not only ensure statutory functions of maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of customer information; but that will go a long way in enhancing a broad risk management structure that has the confidence of our customers and other stakeholders,” said Abubakar Jimoh, the Managing Director/CEO of Coronation Merchant Bank.

The ISO certification is awarded the British Standard Institute, the leading organisation in audit management systems and processes. The certification, the bank said, are the world’s highest accreditation for information security and service management. It is coming after Agusto & Co., Nigeria’s leading ratings agency, upgraded the bank’s credit rating to A+ with a stable outlook from A.

“By this certification, we are making a clear statement of our capacity to not only minimize security breaches but also effectively predict and respond to security incidents whilst maintaining business continuity,” Jimoh said.

Founded in 1993 as Associated Discount House, Coronation Merchant Bank obtained a merchant (investment) banking license from the Central Bank of Nigeria in 2015. The bank’s operations cover investment banking, corporate banking, securities trading, asset management, wealth management, global markets and treasury, and trusteeship. As of December 2016, Coronation Merchant Bank had assets of N106.6 billion.
