Cadbury Nigeria has announced the appointment of Muhammad Amir Shamsi as its new Managing Director, according to a statement released by the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Tuesday.
The company said Amir’s appointment follows the resignation of Roy Naaman – an Israeli national who has served as Managing Director since January 1, 2015. Naaman's resignation is effective from January 31, 2017.
Until his appointment, Amir served as the Global Innovation Director Kids Wholesome at Mondelez International, a subsidiary of Kraft Foods, based in New Jersey. He was previously the Marketing Director, West Africa, for Mondelez based in Lagos, Nigeria. Amir, a Pakistani national, holds an MBA from Greenwich University, Pakistan. His appointment takes effect on February 1, 2017.
Founded in the 1950s, Cadbury Nigeria is a leading confectionary and beverage company, with popular brands such as Bournvita, TomTom, and Buttermint. The company’s annual revenue reached N27.83 billion in 2015. Mondelez International owns 74.97 percent stake in Cadbury Nigeria.
