The recognition follows NDIC’s outstanding performance in the ICPC’s 2025 Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard, reinforcing its commitment to transparency, accountability and ethical governance.
The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has been honoured with the 2026 Pillar of Integrity in Public Service Award in recognition of its commitment to ethics, transparency and accountability in public service.
The award was presented at the 2026 Verbatim Awards organised by Verbatim Print & Broadcast Limited in partnership with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in Abuja. The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the NDIC, Thompson Oludare Sunday, was represented at the ceremony by the Head of Communication and Public Affairs, Hawwau Gambo.
The recognition followed the NDIC's strong performance in the 2025 Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS), where the Corporation emerged as the second-best performing federal agency overall.
The EICS, developed by the ICPC, is designed to promote ethical standards, accountability, and anti-corruption practices across Nigeria's public service. The assessment evaluates Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) based on four key areas: management culture and structure, financial management systems, administrative systems, and anti-corruption initiatives.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the ICPC, Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, represented by the Director of the Systems Study and Review Department, Olusegun Adigun, delivered a keynote address titled, "The Power of Integrity in National Development: Strengthening Public Institutions, Restoring Trust and Driving Prosperity."
Receiving the award on behalf of the NDIC, Ms Gambo commended Verbatim Print & Broadcast Limited for recognising the Corporation's achievements based on the ICPC's independently validated integrity scorecard.
She reiterated the NDIC's commitment to maintaining the highest standards of transparency, accountability and ethical governance in carrying out its core responsibilities, including deposit guarantee, bank supervision in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), failure resolution, and bank liquidation.
According to her, the award reflects the Corporation's sustained efforts to uphold stakeholder confidence while effectively delivering on its mandate.
She added that the recognition would encourage the NDIC to further strengthen compliance with best practices and uphold professionalism and excellence in public service.
The Corporation noted that as it continues to protect depositors, promote confidence in the banking sector and support financial system stability, the award serves as both validation of its achievements and motivation to deepen public trust through ethical and accountable service delivery.
