First Bank of Nigeria closes representative office in Abu Dhabi

The representative office in Beijing will now cater to customers in China, Middle East and the rest of Asia.
First Bank of Nigeria has announced the closure of its representative office in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The office was set up in 2011 to serve business interests in the Middle East locations and support customers within and around the region.
According to a statement by First Bank released on Friday, the representative office in Beijing will now cater to customers in China, Middle East and the rest of Asia.
In the last three years, First Bank has set up six subsidiaries across Africa as part of its expansion strategy, with an International Banking Group to coordinate all international business. According to the bank, it will continue to assist customers from the Middle East through its International Banking Group and the regional subsidiaries.
In 2016, Bashirat Odunewu was appointed Group Executive of the International Banking Group. Before her appointment, Bashirat was the Group Executive of Institutional Banking Group. She has over 27 years of experience across institutional banking, corporate banking, commercial banking, investment banking and treasury in various financial institutions.
