The inaugural Asset Integrity, Automation & Cybersecurity Conference (AIAC West Africa 2026) concluded successfully on 9–10 June at The Civic Centre, Lagos, bringing together industry leaders, technical experts, operators, and technology providers from across the oil & gas, utilities, and industrial sectors.

The two-day event established itself as a premier regional platform for advancing asset integrity, automation, operational technology, and industrial cybersecurity.

The conference opened with welcome addresses from Gbenga Ayodele Owolabi, Commercial Manager at ANOH Gas Processing Company; Isaac Adekanye, Past Chair of the IEEE Africa Council; and Olalekan Oyeleye, Managing Director of Candid Oil.

Keynote speakers included Olatunde D. Gbadamosi, Executive Director, Asset Management, at NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company Limited, who spoke on “Achieving Operational Excellence and Maintaining Asset Integrity for Nigeria’s Energy Industry”, and Kola Fagbayi, former Vice President at BP, who addressed “Changing Landscape of Asset Integrity in Oil and Gas”.

Attendees took part in sessions on asset integrity management, corrosion and coatings, cathodic protection, inspection technologies, automation systems, digital transformation, operational technology, and cybersecurity. Case studies, panel discussions, expert presentations, and an exhibition showcased strategies and solutions to improve safety, reliability, efficiency, and resilience across critical industrial assets.

The exhibition showcased advanced technologies from Quomodo Systems Africa, Asset Integrity Engineering (AIE), Cenosco, Revoseal Nigeria Limited, ARRIDEX, and other companies, with live demonstrations and networking opportunities.

The conference also featured the AIAC West Africa Awards, recognising excellence and innovation. The winners in the AIAC Excellence Award's End User Category were David Oni, Head, Subsea Intervention & Construction, Shell (Asset Integrity), and Ekhorutomwen Osemwinyen, Head, Process Control, NLNG (Automation & Cybersecurity).

In the Vendor Category, the winners were Cenosco (Asset Integrity) and Quomodo Systems Limited (Automation and Cybersecurity).

The event was organised by ALDRICH ENERGY in partnership with GEXPERTS Consultoria Limited, with the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) serving as Knowledge Partner. Supporting partners included the Cyber Security Experts Association of Nigeria (CSEAN), the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), and Women in Energy Oil & Gas (WEOG).

AIAC West Africa 2026 fostered dialogue, strengthened partnerships, and showcased innovations shaping the future of Africa’s energy sector. Organisers said the inaugural edition has laid a strong foundation for continued collaboration, technical advancement, and operational excellence across the region.
