Digital Africa Global Consult, the company that aims to promote the adoption, diffusion, and active development of digital technology in Africa, will host the 2016 edition of Digital Africa conference and exhibition on June 1-3 at the International Conference Centre in Abuja, Nigeria.

The company, which has a vision to transform Africa from a passive consumer to a leading innovator and user of digital technologies, has said the theme of the 4th edition of Digital Africa conference and exhibition is, “Accelerated Development for Africa with IoE (Internet of Everything)."

The debate on the impact of the emerging Fourth Industrial Revolution has been centered on the disruption on human jobs due to the rapid uptake of what is called the machine economy at the workplace. But also within the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the internet plays a major role as a creative disruptor.

The organisers of Digital Africa say the Internet of Things (IoT) or IoE (Internet of Everything) is changing the business playing field and the African continent will definitely not be left out. To be an active player in this technological revolution, the continent needs to create opportunities for new sources of revenue, device smarter ways of interactions with customers, and develop greater efficiency at doing things.

The main thrust of the Fourth Industrial Revolution is about skills and productivity enhancement. The questions to be addressed are: What does this mean for emerging and developing economies, including Africa? How can African enterprises leverage the unprecedented interconnectedness that the internet brings, capture data at the “point of action,” and analyze huge volumes of machine-generated data in real time?

Digital Africa 2016 aims to address these challenges and tap into the opportunities. Speakers at the conference include Robin Raskin, Founder of Living in Digital Times (LIDT); Adekunle Ajiboye, Founder, AAJIMATICS; and Daniel Asare-Kyei, a Geo-information Scientist.
