NSE All Share Index rises by 6.57 percent

The benchmark stock index of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), also known as the All Share Index, rose by 6.57 percent at the close of trading on Friday, March 4th.
The index rose to 25,820.10 points at the end of trading this week, from 24,228.79 points recorded last week.
Market capitalization rose 6.55 percent to close at N8.882 trillion this week, compared with N8.336 trillion recorded last week.
Tiger Branded Consumer Goods topped the gainers chart, rising 30.3 percent to close at N1.72. The stock of United Capital Plc. rose 29.55 percent to close at N1.71. Other stocks on the gainers chart were African Prudential Registrars, which rose 27.73 percent to close at N3.27; Ecobank Transnational, which rose 14.35 percent to close at N18.25; and Diamond Bank, which rose 12.5 percent to close at N1.53.
On the losers chart, the top five stocks were Forte Oil, which fell 14.26 percent to close at N293.23; FCMB Group, which fell 10.13 percent to close at N0.71. Also, the stock of Con Oil fell 9.71 percent to close at N16.56; Ikeja Hotel Plc fell 9.6 percent to close at N2.73; while Wema Bank fell 9.38 percent to close at N0.87.
The three most traded equities this week – Wapic Insurance, FCMB Holding, Access Bank – accounted for 578.238 million shares worth N933.534 million in 1,424 deals. The three stocks contributed 39.18 percent to the total equity turnover volume and 11.68 percent to the total market value.
The Financial Services industry led the activity chart this week, with 1.310 billion shares valued at N5.59 billion and traded in 9,955 deals. The sector contributed 89.36 percent of total equity turnover and 69.94 percent of total value.
The Conglomerates industry followed with 50.809 million shares worth N108.297 million in 557 deals. In third place was the Consumer Goods industry with a turnover of 49.655 million shares worth N1.376 million in 2,434 deals.
