Jumia, one of Nigeria’s biggest e-commerce companies, has said the 2015 Black Friday deals would be bigger than Alibaba’s Singles’ Day shopping festival in China. In a statement released today, the Nigerian online retailer said this year’s Black Friday is already generating 100 times more traction than last year’s.
Black Friday 2015 will take place on November 27. 370 million shoppers worldwide participated in Black Friday deals last year. Jumia said it intends on taking Nigerian shoppers by storm this year. Jumia said it is preparing to make the 2015 one-day shopping festival bigger than the last 2 Black Friday events.
Fatoumata Ba, Managing Director of Jumia Nigeria, said, “Our projections for this Black Friday 2015 are surpassing anything we could have hoped for only a year ago. The traction we are observing on Jumia for Black Friday is unprecedented, with 100 times more traffic on the website than a year ago at the same time.”
“We have partnered very closely with more than 1000 brands and vendors who gladly accepted our invite to make Black Friday the biggest sale event of the year and provided us with 10,000 products guaranteed to have the best prices in Nigeria, Jumia Nigeria’s Managing Director said. You will be able to find the latest smartphones for the price of a blender,” Ba said.
Total value of transactions on Alibaba's Singles' Day shopping festival on November 11 was estimated at $14.32 billion. This year's figure was up 60% from the Chinese e-commerce's 2014 sales.
The Nigerian online retailer has asked Nigerians to get ready for the 2015 Black Friday as it promises fantastic deals for shoppers.
