Themed, “Building Sustainable Enterprises Through Adaptive Corporate Governance Practices,” the event brought together over 40 C-Level executives. CEO of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRC), represented by Prof. Musa Inuwa Fodio, set the tone for the event with a keynote address on Institutionalizing Corporate Governance Best Practices in Private Enterprises. He emphasized the intention of the FRC to make good governance practices a culture within corporate Nigeria. He said accountability, sustainability and ethics are the pillars of good corporate governance.
The other speakers at the event included Adebisi Adeyemi, MD, DCSL Corporate Services Limited. The panel session featured Moshood Olajide, Executive Director of Finance and Risk Management at Forte Oil; Charles Ojo, Company Secretary at CSCS Plc; and Prof. Fodio, who is also a member of the FRC’s Governing Council. The session – moderated by Femi Awofala, CEO of Brickstone Africa – proffered ideas on how to ensure that the implementation of the code enhances rather than impedes the operational and financial performance of companies.
