News Highlight
VFS Global has announced the launch of new enrolment centres in the UK and Germany to support the initiative of the NIMC to include Nigerians in the diaspora into the National Identity Database.
VFS Global — a leading outsourcing and technology services company — has announced the launch of new enrolment centres in Germany and the United Kingdom for the enrolment of Nigerians living in these countries into the National Identity Database (NIDB) for the issuance of the National Identification Number (NIN). According to a statement released by VFS Global on Monday, the launch of the new enrolment centres is to support the initiative of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to include Nigerian nationals in the diaspora into the NIDB.
While the new centres in London and Leicester, UK, began operations on August 2, the centres in Berlin and Frankfurt, Germany, will be opened on August 12, 2019. Appointments can be obtained online by visiting www.vfsglobal.com/NIMC/NIgeria for NIN enrolment and subsequently the issuance of General Multi-Purpose Card. A dedicated contact centre and email support service are also available for applicants to answer queries and track their application status.
Jiten Vyas, VFS Global Regional Group COO, said. “This underscores our efforts to offer solutions that ensure a secure and seamless experience in the identity and citizen services space. By leveraging our capabilities of having successfully implemented such large-scale diaspora enrolment services across the world, we are confident that the new centres would greatly benefit this global initiative.”
The NIN is a unique set of 11 digits issued to Nigerian citizens as a means of identification. It can be used for processing any transaction that requires identity verification, such as opening a bank account.
Following the success of the diaspora enrolment launched in South Africa in March 2019, the NIMC has extended the exercise to the United Arab Emirates, the United States and other countries where Nigerians are domiciled.
The addresses of the UK centres are: 66 Wilson Street, London EC2A 2BT, UK; Peepul’s Centre, Leicester, Orchardson Avenue, Leicester, L E4 6DP, UK.
The German centres are at: Regus Office 422 4th floor, Gontardstraβe 11, 10178 – Berlin, Germany; Regus Office 108, Mainzer Landstraβe, 49, 60329 – Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
