Karén Breytenbach, Head of the Department of Energy, IPP Office of South Africa as well as the IPP Office team will attend the Powering Africa: Finance Options (PA:FO) summit, which will be held on 5-6th November in Cape Town. Ms Breytenbach’s participation follows the successful hosting of the South Africa: Gas Options event in Cape Town last week, which brought together over 300 investors to learn about South Africa’s Gas IPP programme.
Powering Africa: Finance Options will explore some of the potential financing bottlenecks which could arise in the gas IPP programme. The summit will get to the heart of financing issues and opportunities in order to build relationships and accelerate investments. It will bring together project and utility leaders such as Mozambique’s EDM and South Africa’s Eskom to challenge investors and development partners in a series of lively roundtable debates, as the number of IPPs across Africa continues to rise in order to meet growing demand for power.
The potential of the gas IPP and the continued enthusiasm for the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer (REIPP) in South Africa, mean that a focused dialogue around the financing structures will help better formulate upcoming RFPs. As it was with South Africa: Gas Options last week, PA:FO has the backing of the highest levels of South Africa’s government.
The meeting is again held under Chatham House rule to foster open discussion and healthy debating around some of the more challenging obstacles investors and the public sector face.
Financial Nigeria is media partner for the PA:FO. For more information, contact Amy Offord – Marketing Manager at Amy.offord@energynet.co.uk or +44 (0)20 7384 8068. The event will hold at Vineyard Hotel & Spa, Cape Town.
