Barclays Premier League tops ranking of most expensive leagues

The Barclays Premier League has been ranked as the world’s most expensive league. This is according to the 2015 Football Price Index released on Wednesday by the transportation search engine, GoEuro.com, and the Football news APP, OneFootball. Football fans in England pay an average 74.04 Euros/82.60 dollars for a match ticket.
In the top five most expensive leagues ranking, in which Premier League comes first, Spanish La Liga comes second, followed by the Italian Serie A. Swiss Super League is ranked fourth, while Major League Soccer in the United States, where former Liverpool FC captain Steven Gerrard now plies his trade, is ranked the fifth most expensive league with average ticket price of 40.83 Euros/45.83 dollars.
Naren Shaam, CEO of GoEuro said, "It costs almost the same to travel to Germany to see a Bundesliga match as it does to stay in the UK and attend a Premier League game.”
In the Best Value League ranking, Germany’s Bundesliga is the top ranked league in the world, according the GoEuro 2015 Football Price Index, where the average price per ticket is 31.25 Euros/35.07 dollars. Bundesliga is the number two ranked league in the world, after La Liga.
Lucas von Cranach, CEO of Onefootball, said: "Sometimes I wonder where this is all leading. The beauty of football was always that everyone -- regardless of social status -- could cheer on his favourite club. In the future, technology will likely be the means of democratizing football again."
The Football Price Index looked at 25 top-tier leagues around the world based on UEFA and FIFA ranking. The average price of a match ticket from all stadiums within the jurisdiction of each league was taken. Regular and VIP tickets were included in the survey.
According to the 2015 Football Price Index, the top 10 best value-for-money leagues are, 1. Germany; 2. Spain; 3. Portugal; 4. England; 5. Argentina; 6. France; 7. Belgium; 8. Italy; 9. Turkey; 10. Brazil.
