AGIX Agritech, a division of UK- and Nigeria-registered AGIX Africa Ltd, has been shortlisted by the German Agricultural Society, DLG, for its FlockRail-LM concept. The shortlisting is under the “Tradition Meets Start-up” Open Innovation Programme linked to EuroTier 2026.

The company said the concept is an early-stage animal-welfare technology designed for commercial turkey farming, where injurious pecking can cause bird losses, flock stress and increased labour demands for routine inspections.

The DLG challenge invited start-ups to propose autonomous or digital systems that can operate in poultry barns, encourage natural activity among turkeys and detect behavioural abnormalities before welfare problems escalate.

FlockRail-LM is being developed as a rail-guided livestock-welfare monitoring and intervention system. According to AGIX Agritech, it combines sensing, autonomous movement, behavioural-risk detection and targeted engagement inside turkey housing.

DLG’s stated requirements for the challenge include movement on litter, resilience against dust, moisture and direct animal contact, hygienic cleaning, operation across an 18- to 22-week rearing cycle and suitability for birds from chicks to adult turkeys.

The shortlisting places AGIX Agritech among start-ups being considered for presentation at EuroTier 2026, which will take place from 10 to 13 November 2026 in Hanover, Germany. EuroTier is organised by DLG and is widely described by the organisers as the world’s leading trade fair for professional animal farming and livestock management.

The 2026 edition of the trade fair is expected to focus on “Intelligence in Animal Farming,” including smart technologies, robotics, sensor systems, artificial intelligence and digital platforms for more efficient, sustainable and welfare-oriented livestock production.

The winning concept in the DLG programme is expected to receive €9,000, access to a partner turkey farm and support for further development and practical testing through the DLG network.

AGIX Africa is led by Prince Basil Emeka Omeje, a UK-based agribusiness and innovation executive and Global Council Member of the World Agriculture Forum.

Omeje said the shortlisting validated AGIX Africa’s ambition to develop technologies for recognised agricultural challenges. “This recognition shows that African-founded companies can contribute credible and commercially relevant solutions to global agriculture,” he said. “FlockRail-LM is designed around a real animal-welfare challenge and the practical realities of commercial farming.”

The development also gives AGIX Africa a stronger international reference point ahead of the AGIX Agribusiness & Agritech Expo 2027, which the company plans to hold from 9 to 10 April 2027 at the Amadeo Event Centre in Enugu, Nigeria.

The expo is expected to bring together agribusinesses, farmers, agritech companies, investors, government institutions, researchers, development organisations and international delegations to discuss technology, market access, investment and commercial partnerships.

For AGIX Agritech, the DLG shortlist marks a step towards testing whether FlockRail-LM can become a safe, reliable and commercially relevant system for animal-welfare management in turkey production.
