The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Society Nigeria is set to host its 2018 Nigeria Investment Conference at the Eko Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, on November 8. The conference, themed "Let’s Measure Up," will address some of the challenges that hinder ease of doing business in the country.
The CFA Society Nigeria is an affiliate of the U.S.-based CFA Institute, the premier global non-profit organisation for investment management professionals.
According to a statement released by the CFA Society Nigeria, the conference will be answering questions such as: Why would anyone want to invest in Nigeria? Are current policies favourable to increasing capital inflow? Why are investors not competing to exploit available opportunities? What has the government done to attract more foreign direct investment, and what should be done going forward?
The professional body added that as Nigeria’s population is expected to rise above 300 million by 2050, there is need for stakeholders to start asking important questions to chart a path for the future of the country.
The high-profile speakers lined up for the conference include Okechukwu Enelamah, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment; Aishah Ahmad, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria; Andrew Alli, former President and CEO of Africa Finance Corporation; and the Chairman of First Bank of Nigeria, Ibukun Awosika.
Others are Paul Smith, President and CEO of CFA Institute; Gary Baker, Managing Director of CFA Institute – EMEA; and the President of CFA Society Nigeria, Banji Fehintola, who is also the conference host.
The CFA Society Nigeria will also be hosting a Women in Investment Management (WIM) Workshop on November 9 at the Eko Convention Centre.
According to the statement, the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Morgan Stanley, Carla Harris, will be the facilitator of the WIM Workshop. Coming to Nigeria for the first time, she will be sharing her career experience as one of the black women in top positions in the investment banking and asset management industry.
Registered in 2013, CFA Society Nigeria is the 137th Society of the CFA Institute and one of the five societies in Africa. The CFA Society Nigeria seeks to promote the highest standards of investment practice in Nigeria and to provide a vibrant community in which its members and other key players in the investment industry can interact and grow.
