Lafarge Africa plc appoints new CEO

Lafarge Africa Plc has announced the appointment of Mr. Peter Hoddinott as the company’s new Group Managing Director/CEO. The appointment of Hoddinott, a British Mining Engineer, was announced on Wednesday, July 22, when the Board of Lafarge Africa notified the Nigerian Stock Exchange of the new appointment.
According to the company, the outgoing Group Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Guillaume Roux, will remain on the Board as a Director.
Before this new appointment, Mr. Hoddinott has been the President of Cembureau, the European Cement Trade Association. He spent his early career as lecturer at the Imperial College of Science and Technology, London, from 1983 to 1988, before joining the cement company, Blue Circle, in 1988. While at Blue Circle, he worked in the Technical Centre and also managed its UK cement plants before going to the Philippines as CEO in 1999.
When Lafarge took over Blue Circle, he stayed in Manila to integrate the two companies, leaving in 2003 to become regional president for Lafarge in Latin America. In 2007, he became regional president for Western Europe and subsequently Executive Vice President – Energy & Strategic Sourcing – in 2012.
