PricewaterhouseCoopers has announced the commencement of its Global Economic Crime Survey 2016. The online survey, which takes between 20-25 minutes to complete, has the 16th of September, 2015 as the final deadline for submission of survey responses.

According to PwC, the aim of the GECS 2016 is to assess corporate attitudes to fraud in the particular countries where participants reside or work. The survey also aims to garner information on how organizations are responding to prevailing incidents of cybercrime, bribery and corruption as well as the effect of money laundering on organizations.

“Since its inception in 2001 the biennial survey has been one of the premier thought leadership publications on economic crime and we are excited to continue this important work,” Louis Strydom,
PwC Southern Africa and Africa Territory Forensic Leader, said in an email invitation to participants today.

Apart from identifying what types of fraud are most common in particular climes, the importance of this survey is to highlight the relationship between business ethics and compliance programmes and the prevalence of economic crimes. The survey will also help in developing strategies for mitigating the risks of fraud in businesses.

PwC, the global auditing firm and professional services provider, assures participants that all responses will be treated as strictly confidential. Individuals and organizations that participate in the survey will not be mentioned in the published results. The results of the GECS 2016, which will be published in February 2016, will be based on industry, company size, and other demographic data, as opposed to using individual company names.

Participants are advised to go directly to https://www.pwcresearch.com/uc/GECS/  to take part in this study.
