Medview Airline acquires new aircraft as operations begin on Dubai route
News Highlight
The airline said its Dubai route would commence with two weekly flights.
Medview Airline Plc announced on Tuesday that it would soon take delivery of a Boeing 777 and a Boeing 737-800 airplanes to expand its fleet. Muneer Bankole, Chief Executive Officer of Medview Airline, also told journalists that the airline would begin scheduled flight operations to Dubai on July 4.
Having received the necessary permit from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the airline said its Dubai route would commence with two weekly flights.
“Dubai frequency will start with Tuesdays and Saturdays, and London will increase to three/four; as you know, we operate on Sunday, Friday and Wednesday, and soon, with additional aircraft, we will increase the frequency,” Bankole said.
Last week, Medview Airline reported that its first quarter earnings rose significantly notwithstanding the recent closure of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, for runway repair work. The airline’s gross revenue rose 77 per cent to N7.61 billion in Q1 2017 compared to N4.29 billion posted in a similar quarter of last year. After-tax profit in the same quarter stood at N691.03 million as against an after-tax loss of N200.38 million a year earlier.
The Nigerian carrier said it has been granted approval to fly to 14 international destinations –including Singapore, Johannesburg, Tel-Aviv, Lisbon, Cote d'Ivoire, Guinea, and Senegal – and it expects flight operations to the routes to commence soon.
