The African Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (AVCA) is set to host its 14th annual conference for private equity operators, according to a statement released on Monday. About 500 private equity leaders are expected to attend the conference – which will hold on April 4th to 5th – in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, making it the first time in ten years the conference will be held in Francophone Africa.

The Pan-African body said the conference will focus on central private equity themes such as sustainability, job creation, and impact investing. It will also explore themes such as Africa’s infrastructure needs, investing in SMEs, fintech, value creation via exits, healthcare investment, and real estate.

“The sessions will provide a platform to hear diverse perspectives from members on the main industry trends and themes shaping the investment landscape in 2017,” the AVCA said.

Some of the confirmed keynote speakers are: Daniel Kablan Duncan, Vice-President of Côte d’Ivoire; Michel Abrogoua, Founder, Chairman and Managing Partner, PCM Capital Partners; Christian Adovelande, President, Banque Ouest Africaine de Développement; Dr. Daniel Matjila, Chief Executive Officer, Public Investment Corporation; and Dr. Frannie Léautier, Senior Vice-President, African Development Bank Group.

“Locating the event in Abidjan – a key hub for West African investment – reflects the tremendous growth that has taken place in Côte d’Ivoire over the past few years and puts the spotlight on Francophone Africa, a powerful region coming into its own, which is often overshadowed by more established Anglophone markets,” AVCA said.

Founded in 2000, the AVCA aims to promote and enable private investment in Africa. AVCA members span private equity and venture capital firms, institutional investors, foundations and endowments, pension funds, international development finance institutions, professional service firms, academia, and other associations. Over 200 firms are represented under the AVCA, with over $38 billion in assets.
