I think we already have a model from the retail banking system: we should allow the existence of small-sized commumity-type brokerage firms side by side with the big firms to cater for this huge but largely unexplored segment of potential investors. The present policy thrust especially as regards recapitalisation unfortunately will further alianate the small investors and in the long term, slow the growth of the capital market. It is a big problem and we need to act now to sustain and even speed up the impressive growth we have witnessed in the Nigerian capital market in the last decade.

Big ticket transactions will gurantee huge income and revenue , will enable budget achievements and will drive good compensation . retail deals can not meet the income expectations of businesses. The remedial measure , so that , the retail end is not side-lined is for businesses to create retail units, groups or divisions to cater for this clientelle base while still pursuing the big-tickets.

i believe this ongoing recapitalization is for the good of the market. it will not be ideal for a stockbroking firm whose capitalization is #70 million handling big ticket transaction from FDI worth #50 billion. what if something goes wrong and the firm closes shop and run oversea like we have seen and heard in the recent past ? i tell you the confidence the international community has shown in our market will be lost. we need these FDI in as much as we also need the retial investor. SEC has said policies will be put in place to protect the retial investor from being sidelined becuase they also know they are important to our market. the way forward is for each firm to have a platinium, diamond, gold, & silver account for different levels of investors without sidelining one anyone.

Retail investors are as important as the big tickets. Stockbroking firms should as a matter of competition focus on both big ticket and retail investors, as retail investors may turn out to becoming big ticket put together as time progresses

NSE shld listen to what d stockbrokers r asking for, that, there shld be retail stock broking firms along sides high net worth stock broking firms so as not to alienate small investors that will later encourage high level corruption in every facets of d society in long run, with the high level of interest by Nigerians in stocks and where a situation is nw created and can not buy or sell, thereby will make people to look for at all cost to invest. its obvious why stockbrokers' focus is on big investors; no body would want to do business and not break even.My advice is this: upcoming and young investors should not be discouraged, its a chick that eventually becomes a mother-hen.Theres actually nothing to lose but all to gain. The big ticket(ers) sure started from somewhere.Objectively, there is no tendency to sideline any investor. So just keep doing what you know best; keep investing!

i think the two (retail investors as well as the big tickets) can be accomodated under the same brand name and roof.Recapitalisation is necessary to uphold the investors confidence. The investors confidence is relative, a retail investor will want to put his /her money where is safe, likewise the big ticket investor. In a nutshell a protocol should be established to accomodate the two (2) & not lose this, a retail investor or stockbroker is a potential big ticket investor or stockbroker.
